The Cabbing Shop:
Whoa. We have had many first time visitors this month. Most just come to see whats up and chat but their interest is greatly appreciated. Attendance is up, averaging about 6 to 9 members per week. Remember, we have buckets and buckets of rough and slabs to purchase, a VCR capable television and three tapes ( on opals, faceting and lost wax casting, courtesy of Graves Co). Go to www.fgcgms.com for directions.
In short, the cabbing shop is a great place to spend a few hours to chat with fellow members, cut a stone or two, acquire some great rough and learn a thing or two. And, it’s cheap, only $5.00 for three exciting hours on the machines…..the talk is free,

Classes:
One new member, Frances Rossen, is taking the cabbing class and is interested in the faceting classes as well. If YOU would like to learn to cab, contact Don or stop by the shop at the Graves Company any Thursday evening from 6:30 to 9:30 and get started right away or, if the class is full, get your name on the list. The cabbing class is $50 for four 3 hour classes (all proceeds go to the club). Dave has two faceting students beginning this Saturday and, when not taking faceting, Steve is available to teach Saturday morning cabbing classes. To join Steve’s classes, contact him at 954-965-1186 or tropicbuilding@paradista.net. If you would like to learn to facet, contact Dave at 954-943-4638 or dlonser@bellsouth.net

Advertising in the Newsletter:
For new or our previous advertisers, it is time to renew your subscription to our Newsletter. The cost is $25 per year for which you get
12 exposures to over 50 people interested specifically in lapidary and jewelry
. For those interested, please send a check for $25 payable to FGCGMS to Angela
Dietz, Secretary, at 4923 NW 66th Ave, Lauderhill, FL., 33319. If there is any
special verbiage you want included, please include a note to that effect.

Membership:
I’m happy to say many members have been renewing their memberships.
If you have not done so, please pay your yearly dues!! They are due every January for the entire year. Remember, if
you dues are not paid up, you will not have access to the club shop facilities
or classes. We have, over the past few years , continued to include unpaid
members on the email list and, even a few who remain active, on the snail mail
list. However, with the increased price of postage, ink and paper that will
soon cease. Also, if one has no further interest in the Society, there is
little purpose in keeping them on the email list either. So Don will be
“weeding” these past members from the list as well.
For now, if dues are not paid by 31 May,
all unpaid members will be dropped from the snail mail list.
Dues are $15 for a single or $20 for a family
